In comparison to most red meats, chicken contains two to three times more polyunsaturated fat and monounsaturated fat—healthier fats than those found in red meat. Chicken also has a total carbohydrate count of 0, no trans-fat, and is low in sodium.”1 It’s a great source of lean protein and besides being helpful with your cholesterol, it has a lot of other benefits as well. Mix it with other delicious ingredients, and you got yourself a healthy and tasty meal, just like our Mom’s Kitchen products.

Next, let’s talk about an ingredient that’s the perfect addition to your meal. Squash is one of the most resourceful and enjoyable foods accessible throughout the world and it packs a serious punch in regards to health and medicinal benefits. It’s overflowing with different vitamins and minerals, “This list includes a huge amount of vitamin A, as well as significant amounts of vitamin C, vitamin E, and B-vitamins (vitamin B6, niacin, thiamin, pantothenic acid, and folate). In terms of minerals, squash contains magnesium, potassium, manganese, copper, phosphorus, calcium, and iron. It is also a very good source of carotenoids and other important anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds.”3 Mom’s Kitchen Kungpao Chicken incorporated squash into our meal because of the freshness it brings while also being a good source for many nutrients. We only pick ripe and the freshest of squash to add into our dish so that with every bite you experience the crisp and tender flavors.

For extra flavor, chili peppers were added in our Kungpao Chicken, but its addition to our product is more than just having a savory taste. A huge advantage that chili peppers provide is its richness in antioxidant plant compounds. “Fiery peppers pack major health perks. In terms of vitamin C, they beat oranges 3 to 1. They’re also stuffed with vitamins A, B, and E. Some studies suggest capsaicin acts as an antioxidant to protect your cells and helps tamp down inflammation.”4 Mom’s Kitchen Kungpao Chicken has just the right amount of spice so it’s not overbearing but you can also taste the authentic flavors incorporated. They are a great sense of protein and fiber and are rich in nutrients. According to a Harvard Health Blog5, “But like tree nuts, peanuts can be eaten as a filling snack or as a protein-boosting ingredient in many salads and other dishes. An ounce a day of nuts — roughly a quarter cup or a small handful — is a generally healthy portion.” Mixed with the rest of the nutritious ingredients, the peanuts are the perfect addition to Mom’s Kitchen Kungpao Chicken. It brings the whole dish together and has benefits such as weight loss, heart health, and even gallstone prevention. Each bite will be enjoyable for your taste buds, while benefiting your wellbeing!

As one of the most versatile oils that is used in cooking, soybean oil has several health benefits. Besides containing omega-3 fatty acids, which help with fetal development, your immune system, and  brain function, it’s also rich in heart-healthy fats. ” Soybean oil mostly consists of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are a heart-healthy type of fat that’s associated with several benefits (5, 6). In fact, studies show that swapping saturated fats for polyunsaturated fats in your diet could be linked to a lower risk of heart disease. One large review of 8 studies showed that when participants replaced 5% of their total daily calories from saturated fat with polyunsaturated fat, they ran a 10% lower risk of heart disease (7). Trading saturated fats for polyunsaturated fats may also reduce levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol, which is a major risk factor for heart disease (8). Moreover, soybean oil contains omega-3 fatty acids, which can help reduce inflammation and protect against heart disease (9).”6 With all of that being said, it also helps with skin health and prevents bone loss. We chose this specific ingredient for all of this beneficial reasons and it tastes just as good as any oil!
